Думаю многие пользуются виртуальными машинами, в частности VirtualBox. Если вы не знаете, что такое виртуальные машины и с помощью, каких программ их можно настроить, рекомендую почитать статью «Установка и настройка виртуальной машины с помощью VirtualBox».
Но во время пользования любыми программами могут возникать проблемы и сбой. В частности при установки виртуальной машины с операционной системой Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 / 2008 R2 на VirtualBox возникает ошибка Status: 0xc0000225 Info: An unexpected error has occurred.
Для ее устранения выключаем виртуальную машину на которую устанавливаем системы, заходим в «Настройки- Система» Во вкладке Материнская плата ставим галочку «Включить IO APIC»
I/O APIC- Улучшенный контроллер прерываний ввода/вывода(APICs) является новой аппаратной функцией, которая заменила устаревший контролер прерываний (PICs) . С I/O APIC, операционные системы могут использовать более чем 16 запросов прерываний (IRQs), что позволяет избежать совместное использование одного канала IRQ несколькими устройствами.
После этого можно вновь включать виртуальную машины и устанавливать Windows 7 или Windows Server 2008 / 2008 R2.

[SOLVED] Windows 7 fails to install; Status: 0xc0000225
I just installed VirtualBox 4.0.0 on Ubuntu 10.10 AMD 64-bit host. However, I can not get past the following problem:

Windows failed to start.
Status: 0xc0000225In BIOS I have «Secure Virtual Machine» … [Enabled].
I googled around for the above problem, and most folks talk about the «ACPI» (Adv. Config. and Power Interface) and «APIC» (Adv. Prog. Interrupt Ctrl.) settings. My motherboard M4A785-M and its BIOS list these two items together under BIOS<power> option (Suspend mode). I noticed in my BIOS there is no option to enable the «APIC» only.
These two options in BIOS appear as:

APCI 2.0 Support ...... [Enabled]
APCI APIC Support ..... [Enabled]I have no clue how to continue. Can anybody please give me some hints.

Not sure if this will help you since my host is a Mac (with a Core i7), but I had terrible difficulty to install Windows 7 from DVD — it seemed to install allright, but after the first step, when it restarts, it went into an indefinite loop of start, graphical background showing, about 1-2 sec later, it BSODed on me.
This stopped when I changed the chipset under System in VB from ICH9 to PIIX3. The network card is the Intel MT Desktop variant, all others seemed to cause problems.
My current status is that the system runs fine with the guest additions installed under safe mode. Now VB rocks…

Thank you, phochstr, for your reply. I made an ass of myself yesterday! 
After I slept on it, I realized VM does not access host’s BIOS, and that I need to set the I/O APIC in the VB. It now works. I feel really awkward, but for what it is worth, this post may be useful for those that will make the same mistaken assumption.

I realize this thread is a little old, but I just wanted to say thank you to dbwhitaker!
I was receiving the same 0xc0000225 error while attempting to install the Windows 8 Developer Preview. Changing to ICH9 and enabling IO APIC did the trick.

Well although this is an oldie, thank you very much for the solution!
Under Mac OS X 10.8.2 did the following and everything works as expected:
1. Enabled IO APIC
2. Changed chipset to ICH9
VirtualBox: Ошибка 0xc0000225 при установке Windows 7 в виртуальную машину
При установке Windows Seven на VirtualBox может возникнуть ошибка

Just got a chance to install the Windows 8 Developer Preview on VirtualBox today. When I created my virtual machine, I accepted the default settings. I got this error message when I booted up the machine.
Status: 0xc0000225 Info: An unexpected error has occurred.
I remembered that my friend told me you have to enable IO APIC on VirtualBox. I enabled it and it worked. To enable that, select the virtual machine you created. Click on the Settings and then System. Check the box that saysEnable IO APIC.
Another tip about running Windows 8 Developer Preview on VirtualBox is that you have to use the Intel Pro Desktop as the network adapter. The default network adapter did not work.
To change it, open up the settings dialog. Click on Network. Click on the triangle next to Advnaced to expand it. Under Adapter Type, select Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop.

Did you try to install Windows 8 or Windows Server 8 on Oracle VirtualBox and stuck with the error status 0xc0000225? Learn how to solve this unexpected error on Oracle VirtualBox and successfully install Windows 8 in the virtual environment.
Today I was trying to install Windows Server 8 on Oracle VirtualBox and got the following error:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your windows installation disk and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language settings, and then click «Next»
3. Click «Repair your computer.»
If you do not have this disk, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.
Status: 0xc0000225
Info: An unexpected error has occurred.

Unfortunately, the suggestions given in the Oracle VirtualBox error screen was not the right solution for the problem. After some extended troubleshooting and random tries, I figured out how to resolve this Windows Server 8 installation error.
How to solve the Windows 8 installation error on Oracle VirtualBox
To resolve the above error, all you have to do is, enable IO APIC on the VirtualBox in which you are trying to install Windows 8 or Windows Server 8.
Here are the steps to enable IO APIC in Virtual Box:
1. Launch your Oracle VirtualBox Manager
2. Select the VirtualBox in which you are trying to install Windows 8
3. Click on «Settings» in the top toolbar.
4. Choose «System» on the left pane
5. In the «Motherboard» tab, look under the ‘Extended features’ section. Check the checkbox «Enable IO APIC»
6. Click «OK».
7. Start your VirtualBox by clicking the «Start» button in the toolbar.

Now you should be able to successfully run the Windows installer without the error status «0xc0000225».
