  1. PerfProc windows event viewer errors

I noticed a game benchmark I was running froze a few times today, for a few seconds, and found that this error occurred in the event viewer each time it froze. I have just overclocked my CPU today so I was worried that it could be a sign of instability. However I found that this error has been occurring for months, long before the overclock was applied. Can anyone tell me what this is?

SYMPTOMS

The Windows 2000 Application event log may be populated with several event 2002 Perfproc errors that have the following (or similar) description:

Unable to open the job object Winlogon Job 0-13f0822 for query access. The calling process may not have permission to open this Job. The status returned is data DWORD 0. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://support.microsoft.com.

CAUSE

Perfproc.dll logs the 2002 event error when it cannot open a job object. Refer to the «More Information» section for additional information.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

260910 How to Obtain the Latest Windows 2000 Service Pack

Perfproc.dll was modified to call OpenJobObject using the full path in the object name space from the \BaseNamedObjects path.

The English version of this fix should have the following file attributes or later:

Date Time Version Size File name
   ----------------------------------------------------
   12-Feb-2002 04:48PM 5.0.2195.3990 28,944 Perfproc.dll

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.

MORE INFORMATION

A job object allows groups of processes to be managed as a unit. In this case, Perfproc cannot open the Winlogon job object because no user is logged on to the console and a process that is running as a service or in a terminal server session requests process performance data (which is implemented in Perfproc.dll). The open process fails on the Winlogon job object because Perfproc.dll calls OpenJobObject with the job name instead of with the full path to the job. When OpenJobObject is called with a job name instead of the full path to the job in the object name space, it looks for the job under the running processes session sub-tree which will fail if there is no user logged on to the console.

After installing Samsung Magician 6.3.0, I’ve noticed the following new errors in the event log:

  • Source: PerfProc Event ID: 2002 Desc: «Unable to open the job object \BaseNamedObjects\WmiProviderSubSystemHostJob for query access. The calling process may not have permission to open this job. The first four bytes (DWORD) of the Data section contains the status code.«
  • Source: Perflib Event ID: 1023 Desc: «Windows cannot load the extensible counter DLL «C:\WINDOWS\system32\sysmain.dll» (Win32 error code The specified module could not be found.).«

Uninstalling Samsung Magician 6.3 or removing it from startup stops these errors from appearing. However, as soon as I open Magician, they appear again. These errors do not appear with Samsung Magician 6.2.x.

Any ideas how to get rid of them? Thanks in advance.

Despite finding numerous webpages offering tutorials or tips to resolve the issue on Windows Server 2008 or earlier, none of them proved effective in addressing the problem on my Windows Server 2012. In light of this, I posted a question on the TechNet Community Support forum regarding the warning message I received, which stated that the number of outstanding proxy requests for mailbox server xxxxxxxx had exceeded the maximum limit of 5000.

While browsing the internet, I came across several write-ups that stated that the root cause of a particular error is due to corrupt entries on the registry. I was able to find numerous webpages that provided tutorials or suggestions to resolve this issue for MSDT_A1 versions that date back to 2008 or earlier, but unfortunately, none of them worked for my MSDT_A2 2012 version.

These are the pages I adhered to the instructions for.

  • Visit the Microsoft Technet website and access the article with the identifier «cc734941» for information on Windows Server 10.

  • The website with the URL http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc735037(v=ws.10) can be accessed for further information.

  • The URL for the knowledge base article related to Microsoft’s support for issue number 2554336.

  • Check out this blog post from 2013 by Jesper Arnecke about troubleshooting corrupt or malfunctioning performance counters in Windows Server 2012.

Can you offer an additional suggestion for resolving this error?

Thanks in advance!

Solution:

I adhered to the steps mentioned on the website.

  • The website Viking Engineer offers a tutorial on fixing errors related to IIS and performance counters. The tutorial can be found at http://www.vikingengineer.com/microsoft/, under the headings
    iis-servers
    and
    application-log
. These headings pertain to resolving issues with ‘perfcounters2002’ and ‘IISinfocounters1001’ errors.

Having performed these actions previously, I am uncertain as to why copying and pasting the instructions from this particular website proved effective. The instructions entailed the following commands:

cd c:\Windows\Inf\W3SVC
lodctr .\0409\w3ctrs.ini

Following the appearance of Warning Event ID 2003, I resolved this issue by adhering to the given instructions.

  • The following link directs you to Microsoft’s support page with the KB number 932813 in its English version.

Typing this command:

lodctr /T:W3SVC

MSExchange Front End HTTP Proxy Event ID 2002

Question:

Ever since we switched to Exchange 2013 CU7, we’ve been noticing the following entry in our event logs under
CAS server
.

Origin: MSExchange Front End HTTP Proxy

Timestamped at 2:41:41 PM on March 9th, 2015.

The identification number for the event is 2002.

Category of the task is Core.

Indication: Cautionary Level

Topic: Classic Keywords

No user specified.

The computer with the domain name Exchangeserver is being referred to.

Provide details or information about something.

Guard TargetBackend(«vpw1202exch01.bellevue.edu») has too many outstanding requests, surpassing the maximum limit of 150. As a result, any current requests will be denied.

On TechNet, I came across a report from last July about the same issue I’m experiencing. It seems to be related to an upgrade to SP1, but the post didn’t provide a solution. Can anyone shed light on the cause and offer a fix?

Solution:

Hi,

Kindly attempt to include the subsequent entry across all the servers labeled as
exchange 2013 cas
.

Add this key to the <appSettings> node found in \Exchange Server\V15\FrontEnd\HttpProxy\sync\web.config.

The value of «2000» is assigned to the «HttpProxy.ConcurrencyGuards.TargetBackendLimit» key.

Add this key to the <appSettings> node located in the web.config file within \Exchange Server\V15\FrontEnd\HttpProxy\rpc.

The configuration file contains a line that sets a limit of 2000 for the «HttpProxy.ConcurrencyGuards.TargetBackendLimit» key.

Following this, restart the IIS manager to recycle both the MSExchangeSyncAppPool and MSExchangeRPCProxyAppPool.
