It is possible to obtain 2 or more error cubes in an unmodded mission, but it is extraordinarily rare.

The Error Cube, called ERR://23¤Y%/ in-game, is an extraordinarily rare resource. It must be dug out of the ground, and can be deposited into M.U.L.E. like all other resources. Once brought back to the Space Rig, it will appear in the player’s stash of minerals, but is not an ingredient in any upgrade or Accessory Shop purchase, and it cannot be exchanged in the Mineral Trade. It is simply a collector’s item.

Because it currently lacks any use, it is widely considered as an Easter egg and often mistaken for a bug due to its intentionally glitchy-looking name.

As of Update 25, the Error Cube appears alongside other minerals, but only when viewing the Accessory Shop and Deep Dive terminals.

The Error Cube is a black cube with rounded corners and edges. Each of its square faces are divided into nine smaller squares by deep grooves that expose a white, pulsating core.

The area that the cube is buried in is covered in large glowing gray spikes and a purple shimmering effect, similar to other resources hidden within the walls.

Locations[ | ]

Error Cubes can be found in any Planetary Region and Mission Type, although very rarely, with a 1 in 26 (3.84%) chance of generation in a given mission. Tied with the Glyphid Crassus Detonator.

Deep Rock

Gamepur

Deep Rock

Deep Rock Galactic

Ghost Ship Games

Want to know what Error Cube in Deep Rock Galactic is? Playing with friends in Deep Rock Galactic, you can explore hundreds of unique caves, and hordes of enemies or valuable resources can await you inside. But you can also find inexplicable things like Error Cube. This item looks more like a bug than a resource. However, many players found it and wonder why it is needed. Therefore, this guide will tell you everything we know about Error Cube in Deep Rock Galactic.

In Deep Rock Galactic you can find many different resources. Players can use them to sell or upgrade equipment. However, after Update 25, the Error Cube appeared in the game. And everyone who has found this item at least once, remained at a loss since it seems useless.

Error Cube is a cube that looks like a black Rubik’s Cube with a white pulsing core as if it was alive. But alive or not, it is very rare. The chance that you can find it is approximately 3.84%. But luckily, Error Cube will spawn in any Planetary Region. Therefore, if you play a lot you will find Error Cube sooner or later.

Players often consider this item to be a bug, as it is called ERR://23¤Y%/ in the game. Once you find it, you can place it in the M.U.L.E., but upon completion of the mission, you will find that your find is useless. And although the Error Cube is displayed along with other resources, you cannot sell or exchange it.

Deep Rock Galactic Dwarves Are Actually Gnomes

Deep Rock Galactic has an achievement for collecting 5 Error Cubes. What Are These Things is a rather difficult achievement, but if you spend enough time, you can get it. And in the description of the achievement, you can find out that the Error Cube is hot and smells like tarmac.

At the moment, it is not known exactly what this item is. Some players consider it an Easter Egg. And the developers hinted that Error Cube could be part of the plot in Deep Rock Galactic. However, no one knows for sure.

That’s all you need to know about Error Cube in Deep Rock Galactic. And although it looks like a buggy item, we recommend you find more of them. Perhaps in future updates, the developers will make ERR://23¤Y%/ working or needed for some specific purpose. And while you are here, take a look at our guide on how to find Aquarqs in Deep Rock Galactic.

Deep Rock Galactic is available on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.

Deep Rock Galactic is littered with countless unique resources that take on a plethora of uses and values. The single most valuable resource in the game, however, is quite a mystery. They’re called ERR://23¤Y%/, but is more commonly referred to as Error Cubes.

In this Deep Rock Galactic guide, we’ll break down exactly what Error Cubes are, how to find them, and how much they are valued.

What are Error Cubes in Deep Rock Galactic?

Error Cubes are rare artifacts in Deep Rock Galactic that grant you a massive experience boost (4,000XP) at the level’s end. That makes them the most valuable “mineral” in the game. For comparison, Bittergem, which has a 1/21 chance of appearing, awards between 1,000XP and 1,500XP.

Error Cubes appear as small black and white cubes, looking much like an all-black Rubik’s Cube with white grooves. They are technically a mineral, in that you must mine them out of their ore deposits. These deposits appear as spiky gray rock formations with pink auras. Upon mining such an outcropping and snagging the Error Cube, the glowing rock will fade to a normal gray.

Error Cubes are very rare, having a mere 1/26 chance of appearing in any given level, and they can be found in any planetary region, as well as within any mission type. Of course, just because an Error Cube appears in a level doesn’t mean that you will find it, so it may seem even rarer.

As of now, Error Cubes only serve two purposes: to grant rare experience boosts at the ends of levels and counting towards the “What Are These Things?” trophy/achievement, which requires you to find five of them. Its large experience payout means it is valuable for leveling up quickly, serving the indirect purpose of being good for weapon unlocks as well.

Ghost Ship Games has hinted that the Error Cubes may be lore-important in Deep Rock Galactic, though they haven’t yet detailed why. It’s believed to have the same origin as ERR://19%T#/, or the Error Helix, which is a rare structure that has only ever been found in the Radioactive Exclusion Zone, which seems likely, but has not been confirmed.

That’s all there is to know about Deep Rock Galactic’s Error Cubes right now, but hopefully, in the future, we’ll see its backstory and uses further developed. Until then, it remains the game’s greatest mystery. If you’re interested in learning more about Deep Rock Galactic, check out our other articles in our guides hub!
