I need help! When installing SQL Server 2005 Express on one machine, I get an error with the following summary.txt
Machine : xxx
Product: MSXML 6.0 Parser
Product version: 6,10,1129,0
Installed: Failed.
Log file: c:\Program Files… (see below)
Error Number: 1625in log file from above.
MainEngineThread is returning 1625
This installation is forbidden by system policy. Contact your system administrator. The person trying to install has administration privileges. BTW: The computer shares a wireless internet connection with other computers in the office but the clients or not setup to share data. My user is installing SQL, the data, and app on a single client. The MS Sql Server 2005 express seems to install on all other boxes. Thanks for your time.

Hey Experts! I am trying to install a version of SQL Express 2005 on a Windows Server 2008 machine and I’m constantly getting 1625 errors. UAC is turned off on the server and I am logged into the console as a domain admin. The error message I get basically says «Error 1625 installation Microsoft SQL Native Client……This installation is forbidden by system policy.» Log file is listed below. Can someone help me nail down why this installation is failing?

Ive log in safe mode, enabled the windows installer, and uninstalled the sql server and all its components.after that my PC returned to normal<I think>.I think this is the reason why im getting error now.
I have a Visual studio 2008 professional installed in my PC.but even the sql server included in it fails to install.dont know why<but i can use the vspro correctly>

Hi all, maybe someone could enlighten me about this little issue that I’m having when trying to install an update for SQL 2014 on a 2012R2 Terminal Server.
Recently I tried to install a security update for SQL 2014 but it just stalls at «Preparing installation». When I check the eventlog I see the following errors:
Text
Product: SQL Server 2014 Management Studio - Update '{188D8FB9-29BF-4CC3-9A2A-E751EFCCE304}' kan niet worden geïnstalleerd. Foutcode: 1625. Meer informatie is beschikbaar in logboekbestand C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\120\Setup Bootstrap\Log\20160218_073119\AZURE\sql_ssms_Cpu64_1.log.
Text
Product: SQL Server 2014 Database Engine Services - Update '{4F0587C5-1A84-4F4D-938A-3793058662BE}' kan niet worden geïnstalleerd. Foutcode: 1625. Meer informatie is beschikbaar in logboekbestand C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\120\Setup Bootstrap\Log\20160218_073119\AZURE\sql_engine_core_inst_Cpu64_1.log.
The errors are, unfortunately, in Dutch. But basically what they’re saying is that the update can’t be installed with error code 1625. The source for the eventlog is MsiInstaller and the event code is either 1023 or 1024.
Now it is my understanding that error 1625 for MsiInstaller means that it is being blocke by a system policy. And this is where I start to get confused seeing as the account being used is a local administrator.
We do have the group policy «Prevent users from using Windows Installer to install updates and upgrades» in place but it’s my understanding that this doesn’t apply if you’re using an administrator account. Am I mistaken in this?
If I’m not mistaken then could the issue be that the services for the SQL instances are running under regular user accounts? I was under the understanding that it is best practice to run SQL instances under user accounts with limited rights.
Or perhaps I am completely mistaken and I can do without that particular group policy.
Looking forward to your answers!
